Jamaica and Barbados Join groundbreaking Ocean Coordination Mechanism at Our Ocean Conference

Mombasa, Kenya – June 18, 2026 – At an official side event of the ‘Our Ocean’ Conference, the Government of Jamaica, represented by the Hon. Mathew Samuda, Minister of Water, Environment, and Climate Change, and the Government of Barbados, represented by H.E. William Alexander McDonald, High Commissioner of Barbados to the Republic of Kenya, officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Ocean Coordination Mechanism (OCM). This signing marks a historic advancement in regional collaboration for a sustainable blue economy.

The signing occurred during an event hosted by the Government of Jamaica, the OCM, the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF), regional and global partners.
